The creation of owner Carolina Barbagallo-Spagnardi, NeroDoro is set on the ground floor of a restored two-story corner building designed from the ground up, in a rustic meets vintage style. Born in 2010, initially, as a coffee shop offering small bites, such as sandwiches on piadina, a typical bread of the region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. Guests, many of whom became regulars, wanted more! It quickly evolved into a lively wine bar, once a license was obtained. Soon followed pastas, salads, fish & meat dishes. And so NeroDoro, the restaurant, was born.
Operating 16 hours a day, NeroDoro is a refuge for the neighborhood’s every need. During the day, a place for friends to gather for a meal, or a quiet spot to sip coffee and read a book or get some work done. In the evening, NeroDoro turns intimate and candle lit with mellow music, specials from the kitchen, and a bottle of wine from our carefully curated list.
Our philosophy is to keep a simple menu and to be our customer’s kitchen away from home. Micela d’Oro coffee, directly from Messina, Italy, is brewed fresh every morning and has been NeroDoro’s choice from day one. Organic eggs, grass fed Piemontese beef, and top notch imported Sicilian olive oil are used in our kitchen. Our cuisine is a blend of Carolina’s heritage of Northern Italy, Sicily and Switzerland, as well as a few of America’s favorites. Chef Luciana Niccolai joined the team in October 2014, bringing new additions to the menu and revisiting some old favorites.
